A bill to allow law enforcement in Washington state to pursue more suspects has passed the state Senate. Right now, police can only pursue those people suspected in a violent crime, a sex crime, or of driving under the influence. Many drivers know the cop’s limitations and will run from police knowing there will be no pursuit. The Senate bill would add vehicular assault and certain domestic violence offenses to the list. Republicans wanted to add vehicle theft and reckless driving, but the amendment was voted down. A companion bill in the House didn't pass by Wednesday's deadline. The Senate bill now moves to the house for consideration.
