With storm season rolling in, Pacific County officials say now’s the time to be ready. The county typically sees about a dozen windstorms a year, packing gusts around 60 miles an hour and causing tens of thousands of dollars in damage. The emergency management team says even “routine” storms can be dangerous and urges people to keep up with official updates online. Last weekend’s winds knocked out power and brought down trees, but thanks to a solid forecast and quick response, there were no injuries reported.
