Trying To Get Pedestrian Ferries Back To Grays Harbor

Backers say the plan could restore historic connections like Westport to Ocean Shores while helping ease ongoing disruptions with Washington State Ferries.

A Washington lawmaker is trying to bring more passenger ferries back to Puget Sound and Grays Harbor. Greg Nance is promoting the Mosquito Fleet Act, which would allow counties, ports and local transit systems to launch passenger-only ferry routes. Backers say the plan could restore historic connections like Westport to Ocean Shores while helping ease ongoing disruptions with Washington State Ferries. The proposal has already cleared the House and is now headed for a vote in the Senate Transportation Committee.
